The 180 degree rule is when the camera can only face one way of the two people talking as you can see in the picture the camera cant change to the other side this is because if they did, the audience would be confused and disoriented because it would look like they are talking to each other, the only time the camera can go to the other side is if camera is moving and doesn't cut into the other side of the people talking.
